Church History - 本會歷史
The Founding Period (1968-1970) In the Spring of 1968, the Holy Spirit moved the hearts of a handful of Christians. They realized that the Chinese population in the Dallas metroplex had increased, and there was a need for a Chinese church. After a few months of praying and waiting, on September 15, the first Sunday worship was held in the Sunday school building of the Scofield Memorial Church. Thus, it began the ministries of the Dallas Chinese Bible Church in the kingdom of God.
Gaston Avenue Period (1970-1976) The congregation grew from twenty to over sixty people and a larger worship center was necessary. On November 15, 1970, we relocated the worship service to the chapel of the Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, where we called “home” for five wonderful years.
Capps Drive Period (1976-1987) Due to the exponential growth of our congregation and with God’s guidance, we purchased the Capps Drive property near Love Field Airport. Since then, a number of new ministries had been formed including Children Worship, Youth Fellowship, Mandarin Fellowship, Senior Fellowship, Cantonese Prayer group, Sacred Music Department, and English Worship Service.
Campbell Trail Period (1986-present) In 1983, our Capps Drive facility had been maximized and unable to adapt the growing congregation. In October of 1986, we moved to the Campbell Trail site in Richardson and the congregation has grown over 600 members in three languages. After seeking God’s will, our church decided to remain as one church with multiple purposes. The church ministries will be carrying out in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. Other dialects would be employed in mission and evangelism when appropriate.
